The new generation of chemical peels are all about skin remodelling, and can be used to treat everything from dark spots and wrinkles to acne and rosacea
Chemical peels pretty much do what they say on the tin. Apply acid solution, lift away dead skin cells. Job done.
Except, if you’re going to the right salon (pssst, like mine!), then you’ll be pleasantly surprised. At Helen Taylor Aesthetics, we’re all about smart peels, rather than harsh ones. Skin remodelling is the hot new buzz term in beauty, and here’s why.
In the past, skin peels simply attacked the top layers of the face to reveal younger skin beneath. Now, thanks to new more sophisticated formulations, the emphasis is on treating the skin from the inside out, with acids that work deep within the dermis, rather than irritating the surface of the skin. Bear with me – here comes the science…
Enerpeels use a unique patented carrier technology that means the peeling agents (acids to you and I) aren’t activated until they’ve penetrated the dermal layer. Not only does this mean the results are more controlled (less reddening and swelling, for starters), it also means we can introduce other helpful ingredients into the formulations to treat your specific needs.
I see a lot of clients for acne, which responds well to peels. The benefit of Enerpeels is that we can use a mixture of different acids to exfoliate the skin on a deep level, and reduce scarring – but also add anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agents into the formulation to treat the acne itself. If wrinkles are an issue, then nourishing anti-ageing ingredients can also be given alongside your peel. For rosacea – another condition that responds well to peels – anti-reddening agents can be used to calm the complexion and tackle the root cause of the issue. In other words, a bespoke treatment that’s perfectly tailored to your skin. Now that’s my kind of cocktail!
Stay skin smart!
