Skin Debunk

Are you doing these eight things to your face? Here’s Our Skin Debunk

Are you doing these eight things to your face? Here’s Our Skin Debunk 960 643 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

How are your new year’s health goals going? If one of your resolutions was to take better care of your skin, you’ll be glad you stumbled upon this blog post.

It features eight, very enlightening points about your face – and what you should and shouldn’t be doing for optimum skin health. So, if you’re doing one (or more) of these things to your complexion, it’s time to rethink. Read on for the Helen Taylor Aesthetics skin debunk.

That’s right, we’re exposing some of the myths about skin, skincare routines and skincare to ensure you can enjoy a brighter, fresher face this year.

Skipping SPF

We’re sorry, but it simply isn’t okay to skip SPF in winter. The general consensus may be that your skin doesn’t need protection during the cooler months, but that simply isn’t true. Vogue explains why you need sunscreen or SPF year-round. After all, you get one face – and it’s vital you look after it.

The site suggests:“Incidental sun exposure—the kind experienced on a daily commute—has a cumulative effect that results in fine lines and sagging skin” and our founder Helen agrees.

Wearing sunscreen all year is a must, so make sure you incorporate it into your skincare routine.

Skin Debunk

Avoiding Chocolate

Despite what well-meaning relatives or friends will tell you, there is no evidence between chocolate and pimples – so tuck in if you enjoy a chunk every now and then. After all, a little bit of what you enjoy won’t harm.

If you’re suffering from acne-prone skin, chat to our team at Helen Taylor Aesthetics about your options. We have a Taylormade Hydrafacial just for you, for example – and we also offer chemical peels for stubborn acne marks and scars.

Sitting in the Shade

You aren’t immune from sun damage, simply because you choose to sit in the shade. In fact, that’s one of the biggest skin myths out there!

According to skincancer.org, “people can spend long hours in the shade while still receiving quite a lot of sun exposure and risking sun damage”. Be safe, folks – slather that sunscreen on!

Scrubbing Oily Skin with Exfoliators

Got oily skin? Maybe harsh exfoliators and cleansers featuring micro beads form part of your usual skincare routine.

Well, it’s time to rethink your beauty regime! Self.com offers nine ways you could be contributing to even oiler skin – and over-scrubbing is suggested as one of them. The site says you should avoid pore-clogging products too. Why not chat to us about a skincare regime that’s devised just for you, as well as a programme of regular facials? Or book your free consultation here.

Using Only Expensive Skincare Brands

While there’s something very luxurious about using premium skincare, doing so may not be the best course of action for your skin. Often, the fewer products the better. Stay tuned here at Helen Taylor Aesthetics, as we’re working hard behind the scenes to devise our own range of skin-loving cleansers and moisturisers and we’re pretty sure you’ll love them.

Stockpiling Anti-Ageing Creams

While a good skincare routine may help keep your complexion hydrated, don’t be fooled by products that promise the earth and ingredient lists filled with chemicals you can’t pronounce.

The BBC suggests that scientific-sounding products aren’t always what they’re cracked up to be, so don’t be tempted to panic-buy anti-ageing creams. Instead, try a targeted, bespoke approach to skincare, selecting the products that work best for your skin type.

Washing Your Face Too Much

This point ties in with over-scrubbing your face with harsh cleansers; washing your face too much can also be a no-no – even if you don’t have oily skin. Allure offers some advice on how often you should cleanse your skin, so if you’re doing it too often, maybe it’s time to revise your skincare routine.

Be aware that your skin’s needs may change as you age too; for example, skincare at 30 may be drastically different to your regime at 20. If you need some advice on the best treatment(s) for you, why not book your free consultation with us?

Trying ‘Professional’ Treatments at Home

You may well have heard that dermarolling at home is much cheaper than visiting a clinic. But please don’t be tempted to try professional treatments like this yourself. True, you may save yourself a few pounds, but is it worth the risk that you might permanently damage your skin? We say definitely not.

Facial Fillers – and Four Places You Can Have Them!

Facial Fillers – and Four Places You Can Have Them! 1024 1024 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

Fillers can dramatically improve the appearance of your face – but when you think about them, what’s the first thing that springs to mind? It’s probable that it’s the image of plumped up lips, but did you know you can also have filler injected in various areas of the face?

It’s the reason they’re referred to as ‘facial fillers’ and not just ‘lip fillers’ – and the type we use here at Helen Taylor Aesthetics offers benefits which last several months.

In the Lips

Enhancing your natural pout, lip fillers can make your pout appear healthier and more feminine – and they can easily be broken down over the course of a few months. What that means for you is your fillers won’t be a permanent fixture in your face; if you decide you’d like to go au naturale again, you can!

In the Cheeks

Plumping the area for a fresher, brighter look, cheek filler is performed by our highly-skilled team to give you more confidence in the way you look.

Correcting sunken cheeks and contouring the area to restore lost volume, cheek filler is a safe option for anyone who’s looking to spoil themselves with a treatment in 2019; go on, get booked in and look forward to a new you in the new year.

For the Tear Trough

Focusing on the depressions and droopiness that can appear under the eyes, tear trough facial filler treatment can make you look fresher and more youthful. It’s needed when the bone and the skin loses density, due to age.

If this is you, you may find that you have eye bags or dark circles – but the tear trough plasma filler treatment at Helen Taylor Aesthetics can help a great deal.

To Replace Surgical Rhinoplasty

It can be massively daunting to go ‘under the knife’, but if you’ve always wanted a daintier-looking nose and don’t want to commit to surgery, non-surgical rhinoplasty– via the wonder of facial filler – is the route to go down.

This safe filler is also hugely effective – so why not chat to our team here at the clinic and get booked in for your free, no-obligation consultation?

We’d also be happy to talk you through any concerns about facial filler – or answer any of your questions. Plus, if you’re feeling anxious about your upcoming visit to the clinic, this blog should help prepare you.

All-Natural Fillers

It’s called Biofil and it contains your own blood. Sounds gruesome but it really does pack a punch when it comes to boosting your appearance – and with it, your confidence. Once reinjected into the skin, the filler can target the appearance of wrinkles, but it can also be used to treat much larger areas. Biofil is a vegan-friendly product that has revolutionised the aesthetics industry. It uses a plasma-based product extracted from your blood and it works to add volume wherever you need it.

urge incontinence

A New You Awaits in 2019

A New You Awaits in 2019 2000 2999 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

Want to start 2019 as you mean to go on? If you’re suffering from urge incontinence as a result of age or multiple births, you can discover more about the Hifu Vela-V max vaginal tightening treatment here at Helen Taylor Aesthetics.

Offering superior female rejuvenation and tightening, the revolutionary machine can help with urge incontinence as a result of laughing, coughing or sneezing – and our clients tell us it’s changed their lives. In fact, why not read all about Sarah’s experience of the Hifu treatment by taking a look at one of our recent blogs.

In it, Sarah tells all about the procedure – and she does so candidly to ensure anyone who’s thinking about the treatment needn’t feel daunted about it. With three children, Sarah knows only too well the strains that multiple births can put on the female body – and she’s thrilled that after a relatively short treatment, she can now go about her day without worrying she’ll have an ‘accident’.

Did the urge incontinence treatment we performed on Sarah hurt? She describes it as like ‘having just got off a bike’, saying the muscles certainly feel like they’ve had a workout. But overall, she was pleased with how soon she was off the treatment couch – after just 45 minutes to be exact.

A revolutionary treatment for stress incontinence

Hifu Vela-V max really is the go-to treatment for stress incontinence – and you needn’t worry about the procedure itself. Applying high-intensity focused ultrasound energy to deliver energy into the deeper layers of skin (SMAS layer), as well as the dermis layer, this smooth and quick treatment is non-invasive.

What’s more, results from this stress incontinence procedure are immediate, which means that you can go about your day in no time and enjoy the results straight away.

What should I expect from the vaginal tightening procedure?

First things first: remember that we do this procedure on a near-daily basis, so aside from the fact we’re experts at it, we won’t worry about seeing your private bits and pieces – and neither should you! We’re all ladies here and you shouldn’t feel daunted about visiting us for the treatment.

If you do find yourself feeling a little bit apprehensive, please do take some time to read a blog post we created about pre-appointment anxieties. It may help to alleviate any of your fears before you visit us.

During the procedure itself, we’ll insert a special probe into the vagina (don’t worry; it isn’t as scary as it sounds!). Once the relevant settings are chosen, the probe will auto-rotate to ensure delivering this effective treatment is both simple and smooth.

You can look forward to no downtime or bleeding – only an improved quality of life where female incontinence is concerned. Hooray to that!

Want to hear more about vaginal tightening here at Helen Taylor Aesthetics? Chat to our friendly and discreet team today and we’ll happily answer any of your questions. Alternatively, you can book in for your free consultation by clicking here.

Look Good, Feel Good with These Aesthetics Treatments

Look Good, Feel Good with These Aesthetics Treatments 1260 1260 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

It’s January, which means you’ve probably heard the phrase ‘look good, feel good’ about 34,567 times already – and we aren’t even half way through the month.

But there’s real meaning behind that old adage – and we do (well, most of us anyway) feel great when we look our best.

So here on the blog, we’re bringing you one treatment that will make you look good in 2019 – and beyond. But what is it? Say hello to the wonder of permanent makeup!

Look Good with Permanent Makeup

eyebrow tattoo

If your goal in 2019 is to improve the way you feel about yourself by tweaking your appearance, this is the treatment for you.

Permanent makeup is huge news in the aesthetics industry, with big-name celebs showing off everything from perfectly groomed eyebrows to gorgeously neat lip liner. Of course, this can be achieved with semi-permanent makeup, via eyebrow tattoos or semi-permanent lip liner– and you can spread the cost of your treatment, too.

You can even have your eyeliner expertly drawn on – and you’ll also leave our clinic with thorough aftercare instructions to ensure you get the very best from your beautiful new, permanent eyebrows.

What happens during your permanent eyebrows treatment?

Permanent brows are one of our most popular procedures here at Helen Taylor Aesthetics, so we thought we’d make it the focus of this blog. The treatment itself is ideal for anyone who’d like to enhance the look and shape of their natural brows. Resulting in perfectly-defined brows, the procedure can also be beneficial for anyone suffering from alopecia ortrichotillomania.

Are permanent brows permanent?

Also known as eyebrow tattoos, permanent eyebrows aren’t realty permanent as the name would suggest – but can instead last up to two years. When you consider that you might otherwise spend in the region of £30 per monthly eyebrow treatment, semi-permanent brows can save you a small fortune – not to mention time! After all, you won’t need to make a regular trip to your usual beauty salon; following your consultation and your brow appointment, you’ll only need to come in for your touch-up a handful of weeks later.

Semi-permanent lip liner offers the same benefits, meaning you can save yourself some much-needed time in the morning – and save money on regular makeovers before your usual Friday night out. Our skilled aestheticians can perfectly define your lips in a colour of your choice – or they can help you pick a complementing shade that will do your everyday look justice.

If you’re unsure whether these permanent eyeliner or semi-permanent lip liner treatments are for you, simply click the corresponding links above to read more about them. You can also see regular before and after photos via our Facebook and Instagram accounts, as well as read reviews from our clients.

If you’re ready to book your free consultation, simply click here and fill in your details; we’ll then be in touch to give you the best date for your permanent makeup appointment.

Why January is the Time for Transformation

Why January is the Time for Transformation 2000 1333 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

During the festive season, you’re likely to hear the expression: “Go on…it’s Christmas” more than a handful of times. After all, it’s the stock answer to a number of questions, including ‘Should I have another mince pie?’, ‘Can I have the last Malteser in the Celebrations box?’ and ‘Am I a bit piggy for scoffing yet another wedge of cheese with my wine?’

Just a week later, though, and the expression emerging from people’s mouths is quite different. ‘New Year, new me’ is bandied around quite a lot as the clock ticks to welcome in another 12 months. But what is it about January specifically – and a new year in general – that has us all considering a transformation or two? A trimmer waist line, whiter teeth, a new haircut…admit it; you’ve thought about at least one of those in the first month of the calendar year.

We took to the good old Internet to find out why people are motivated to make a change at the start of a new year. This site suggests that, for some people, “…it takes something radical for them to change their ways.” – and what could be better than a new year to do just that?

Psychology Today says that we should look at ourselves ‘on a daily basis’ and not just at the start of a new year. Holding ourselves to account year-round will help us to accomplish more goals.

But when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, people that make them do tend to stick to a vow or goal more easily than those who don’t make one in the first place.

The reason for this is because we tend to tell someone else about our resolutions, which is a great way to hold ourselves accountable. As our own clinic manager, Chloe, said in a recent team meeting: ‘I use Monday of every week as my fresh start’.

The fact is, we all like to start a new goal with ‘a fresh slate’ – and by beginning in a new week, month or year, we can mentally wipe clean said slate and ‘forget’ the sins of the former week, month of year.

Sticking to Your New Year’s Resolutions: Some Tips from the Helen Taylor Aesthetics Team

Start Small

The best way to stick to your resolutions is to start small. Yes, you may have a few goals on your list, but don’t try to smash them all at once. Instead, tackle one at a time – whether it’s to quit smoking, save money, or finally streamline your figure with some 3DLipo– begin gradually and don’t be too hard on yourself along the way.

Be Realistic

This tip goes hand in hand with the one above – but it’s vital that you’re realistic about what you want to achieve, as well as how long you have to achieve it.

If you’re hoping to lose weight, a healthy loss of 2 lbs a week (totalling 8 lbs per month) is the way to go, rather than expecting to drop a stone or more in the same period. Make goals you know you can reach, and you’ll be setting yourself up for success.

Have you also considered setting a goal that’s extremely easy to keep, too? Treating yourself to a monthly facial is a resolution that you’ll find a doddle to achieve, as we all love a spot of pampering. Plus, when you spread the cost of your treatments with our finance deal, you have every reason to treat yourself and your skin.

Don’t Put Off a Big Change

The easiest way to smash your New Year’s goals is to make a bold move before you can talk yourself out of it. Whether that’s booking yourself in for a treatment, signing up for that gym membership and putting your name down for a class or two, or strengthening your skill set with a new course at night school.

Go on; you can do it – and we’ll look forward to hearing all about it here at Helen Taylor Aesthetics.

What happened at Helen Taylor Aesthetics in 2018? Our Year in Review

What happened at Helen Taylor Aesthetics in 2018? Our Year in Review 2000 1600 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

Christmas is just days away, which means one thing: the new year can’t be too far behind. So, as we get ready to clink Champagne glasses to mark the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2018, we can’t help but reflect on what a fantastic 12 months it’s been here in the Helen Taylor Aesthetics clinic.

If you’ve been keeping an eye on our blog, you’ll know that we like to give you a monthly rundown of what’s been happening here in our Rugby-based premises, with the November post being our latest edition. Now, it’s time for our special 2018 instalment…read on to find out what’s been happening here lately…

We Added New Treatments to Our Menu!

In a bid to be at the forefront of aesthetics trends, we’re all about bringing revolutionary new treatments to our clinic – and 2018 was an exciting year for us where fresh and innovative procedures were concerned.

The popular Hydrafacial was one of two new treatments to be added to our brimming menu, with 3DLipo another. The former allows our clients to ‘put their best face forward’ and enjoy smoother, softer skin (it’s even good for acne-prone complexions), while the latter allows them to streamline their figure and get beach-ready in time for summer.

3D Lipo

We’ll continue working hard behind the scenes at the clinic, training our staff on the latest treatments and ensuring we stay very much ahead of the curve.

We Turned Sparse Brows into ‘Wow Brows’

Alongside the new treatments we’ve introduced here at the clinic, we’ve been filling up the diary with bookings for semi-permanent eyebrows. As ever, the treatment has proved extremely popular, with more and more people opting to say goodbye to sparse, uneven brows and a big ‘hello’ to perfectly groomed, face-framers. Your consultation is free and you can even spread the cost of your treatment with interest-free finance, so why wouldn’t you get booked in too?!

As well as semi-permanent eyebrow tattoos, there’s been a surge in popularity for lip tattoos and eyeliner. Considering the treatment can make your morning routine much smoother, semi-permanent cosmetics make perfect sense.

Oh, and if you’re feeling daunted ahead of your visit to Helen Taylor Aesthetics, please don’t. We’ve prepared a blog post with some handy hints and advice to help ease any anxieties before you come and see us for your appointment.

We Expanded Our Clinic!

We became so busy in 2018 that we simply had to make more space, so we brought in a team to transform our clinic and introduce a second treatment room to our premises. It’s meant we can welcome even more of you through our doors and that’s made us really happy here in the clinic.

We Welcomed a New Face

2018 was also the year our friendly clinic therapist, Katherine, joined our team. Katherine’s often one of the first people you’ll see when you visit us here in Rugby – and you can be sure you’ll feel more at ease when you’re in her safe and capable hands in the treatment room.

Of course, there’s lots more to come in 2019 and we can’t wait to share more exciting news with you as the months go by – stay tuned and don’t forget to get in touch if we can get you booked in for some New Year treatments!

Hydrafacial

HydraFacial: Lauren’s Experience

HydraFacial: Lauren’s Experience 251 299 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

Problem skin? Or perhaps your complexion’s simply looking a little lacklustre. Whatever your skin woes, there’s a bespoke HydraFacial for you – and we now offer the popular treatment here at Helen Taylor Aesthetics.

Tightening the pores and hydrating the face, HydraFacials can help alleviate a whole host of skin sins – from spots to blemishes and even fine lines and wrinkles. They’re suitable for all skin types and ages, too – and they take just half an hour.

Recently, Lauren – a client of ours – came to try out a HydraFacial for the first time. This is what she thought…

I’m nearly 35, yet I still suffer from acne-prone skin. For a lot of years now, it hasn’t been anywhere near as bad as it was in my teens, but I’ve recently taken a break from the contraceptive pill and I’m waiting for all hell to break loose where my complexion’s concerned.

Hydrafacial

When I visited Helen Taylor Aesthetics for my very first HydraFacial a fortnight or so ago, my skin was having a bit of a moment. Just five weeks after quitting the pill and angry, red spots had already begun to rear their ugly heads around my chin – hooray for that. NOT.

If you struggle with your skin yourself, you’ll know that it zaps all your confidence and means you spend a lot more money than most on concealer. I don’t know about you, but I’m determined to get my skin under control once and for all – and without the ‘safety blanket’ of the pill.

So, I listened to Helen and the team, who told me I had nothing to fear with the HydraFacial – and that it’d help my skin and help give me back some confidence. Another thing you’ll understand if you have less than perfect skin is that putting your trust in anything new – be it a lotion, potion, foundation, regime or treatment – can be daunting.

Hydrafacial

But I did it. I left my worries at the door and got up on the treatment couch – and I’m so glad I did. Katherine performed the procedure and her knowledge of HydraFacial was clear from the off. Not only that, she was so caring and patient, answering any questions and really putting me at ease.

It helped to know that she’s also experienced a few issues with her own skin; it made being stripped of my foundation so much easier.

So, what happened during the treatment itself – the ‘Skin Health for Life’ HydraFacial? Well, despite having all the debris and dead skin sucked from my face, it was actually fairly relaxing. Like a ‘spring clean for the complexion’, the HydraFacial felt like I was doing something really good for myself, not just my skin. Let’s call it maintenance for the face, too. After all, we subject our complexion to all sorts – harsh weather, layers of foundation, the occasional night or two sleeping in our make-up – so I felt good that I’d allowed my skin to enjoy a little TLC.

Never mind my skin, I really enjoyed the experience too.

First, a deep cleanse ridded my face of any make-up. Next, an exfoliator was applied to reveal healthier new skin, before a glycolic and salicylic solution helped loosen debris from the pores. Now, the extractions! Drawing out any impurities, this was the best bit – and it felt good to know all the ‘gunk’ was being pulled out from under the skin.

The hydration part came next, when a cocktail of hyaluronic acid and powerful antioxidants and peptides helped replenish the complexion. The final part was red and infrared LED light, used to reduce redness and further stimulate collagen and natural production of vitamin A. All in all, what a treat it was!

I went away feeling great – and even braved a lunch out completely make-up skin. My face had a lovely glow to it for days afterwards, while make-up application was a dream. Katherine also told me to make sure I applied plenty of skin-boosting serums or moisturisers up to a week after my treatment, since the skin would be more likely to ‘drink them up’.

I’m already thinking about my next HydraFacial, as my skin has never looked better since I visited the clinic. Thanks to Katherine and the team for making me feel so at ease – I’ll definitely be back.

Thinking of trying a HydraFacial, too? There’s a treatment with your name on it, with each HydraFacial tailored to your skin’s unique needs. Book in for your free consultation here.

What’s new at Helen Taylor Aesthetics? November Edition

What’s new at Helen Taylor Aesthetics? November Edition 1772 1181 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

Did you catch last month’s edition of ‘What’s new at Helen Taylor Aesthetics?’ If not, make sure you click here to have a read. Incidentally, that blog post was the very first of this new and exciting series here on our site, so you’ll be pleased to know you haven’t missed too much if you’re joining us on our blog now.

That said, things continue to move pretty fast here in the clinic – and there’s all manner of exciting news to update you on. So, what’s been going on behind the scenes in the last month? Read on to find out…

We’re Branching Out!

So, you’ll know already that we’ve extended the space in our clinic recently – but we’re branching out in a slightly different way, too. That’s right; we’re been getting to grips with the world of live videos on Facebook and Instagram – and we’ve even posted some vlogs on Instagram TV, too. If you’re an Insta-fiend, make sure you hit ‘Follow’ on our profile and head to the ‘TV’ section to see some of Helen’s latest updates.

In them, she talks about her personal journey with ‘bio identical hormones’. Having undergone a hysterectomy, Helen knows only too well the trials and tribulations hormones bring. Thankfully for anyone feeling the same, she shares her candid experience in a series of mini videos – make sure you pop over and have a look.

We’re also ‘going live’ on Facebook regularly, too, with a weekly (or more regular!) video from our team on our page. Come and join the conversation; we always love hearing from you and we’re looking forward to answering your questions.

We Launched Our Christmas Campaign!

Forget a certain high street department store’s ‘Elton John Lewis’ Christmas ad! The word on everyone’s lips at the moment is our very own, festive-themed campaign.

In it, we introduce you to David and Louise – the faces of Helen Taylor Aesthetics in the run up to December 25. The two of them are having their own private thoughts regarding Christmas presents. Louise is worried that her other half, David, will disappoint her again this year, with a carelessly considered gift under the tree.

David, meanwhile, may well have other ideas – click here to learn more. Go on; make sure you take David and Louise into your hearts this Christmas. We know we have.

Bio identical Hormones Are Here!

We’ve already mentioned in this blog about how our founder, Helen, is charting her journey with bio identical hormones – and we’re thrilled to let you know you can now experience for yourself what all the fuss is about.

The natural alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), bio identical hormones help ‘trick your body into thinking it’s younger’. It’s a line that was uttered by Samantha in the second Sex and the City Movie, as she was giving bio identical hormones a whirl, too. Find out what they’re all about by booking in for your free consultation.
