How the A-list banish dark circles permanently

How the A-list banish dark circles permanently 2000 1334 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

Contouring might be all the rage, but tear trough treatment, an advanced aesthetic treatment, is an increasingly popular way to erase dark circles for good. Read on to discover every bright-eyed celeb’s secret

Make-up can work wonders for masking tired eyes and a lack of sleep – as anyone who has ever stockpiled Touche Éclat knows. As we get older, however, the delicate skin beneath the eyes loses density, making dark circles more pronounced. For some women, this under-eye bruising or panda effect can begin as young as the 20s, making the face appear tired no matter how much sleep you have. And let’s face it, none of us get enough sleep as it is.

So how come the celebs always manage to look so bright eyed? These are busy women with demanding jobs and hectic lives, just like us, and yet they still manage to light up the screen, not to mention look awesome on Instagram.

Tear trough treatment – the A-list’s big secret

Well, it may well be down to an advanced aesthetic procedure called tear trough treatment – and Gwyneth Paltrow, Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian are just a few of the bright-eyed A-listers who are rumoured to have had it. Which makes sense. If you need to look your best 24/7, then this painless procedure can definitely help. It can also be performed in less than an hour.

After numbing the skin, a solution of hyaluronic acid – a filler, that mimics the body’s own natural moisturiser – is eased into the tissue beneath the eyes, instantly plumping out the skin and reducing that bruised or hollowed-out appearance. Not only is the procedure quick and painless, tear trough treatment is also incredibly affordable.

The perfect treatments for end-of-summer blues

The perfect treatments for end-of-summer blues 1943 1200 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

The skies might be grey, but your skin doesn’t have to be. Thanks to our interest free finance packages, you can hold onto that holiday glow all year round with a range of advanced aesthetic treatments

I don’t know about you, but I always feel a bit blah at this time of year – and it’s not just the weather. There’s something about summer holidays that just clears the mind, isn’t there? You strip back everything – from your wardrobe to your make-up routine – to the bare basics. Stress and worry fall by the wayside and you just feel so in the moment, care-free and confident.

Then you get home and before you know it your tan has faded, and so has that invincible I-can-be-anyone-I-want feeling. But what if you could hold onto that holiday glow all year-round? Well, I can’t do anything about the grey skies, I’m afraid, but I can recommend a whole host of beauty tweaks that will keep you feeling sunny whatever the weather.

Holiday skin – all year round

Most of us wear less make-up on holiday because our skin has a natural glow (and, let’s face it, it’ll all wash off in the pool anyway). Permanent cosmetics can help you achieve that simplicity long after you’ve packed away your passport. Microblading, for example, is an advanced technique that creates realistic brows, hair by hair. No scary drawn-on-looking brows, just beautifully defined ones that transform the whole face, without the need for a bulging make-up bag! And, best of all, the treatment lasts up to 2 years, so you can bin your brow pencil and still wake up looking on fleek every day #nofilter.

Affordable advanced aesthetics

At Helen Taylor, we also offer a number of advanced aesthetic treatments, from PDO Thread Lifting, non-surgical eyelid tightening or rejuvenating peels, that will transform your looks and restore that I just-stepped-off-the-beach glow.

Interest free finance packages = affordable treatments for all

While your summer holiday might have cost an arm and a leg, you’ll be amazed at just how affordable all our treatments are. At Helen Taylor we offer a number of interest free finance packages that can be tailored to your beauty budget.

Treat yourself today!..

and don’t forget to check out my new Dear Helen vlog, in which I answer all your pressing beauty questions.

Now, go pour yourself a piña colada – and put the heating on!

Plasma Blast – Guest Post – Vicky’s Vlog

Plasma Blast – Guest Post – Vicky’s Vlog 316 315 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

A little while ago, I was sitting in a large meeting and one of my colleagues appeared with significant scabs under his eyes.  He’s not a chap with a particular reputation for cage fighting or street brawling, so it raised eyebrows… After the meeting, he told me he’d had an allergic reaction to some eye drops the optician had used, during a contact lens trial.  Remember this excuse; it may come in useful for you, too!

I had agreed to be Helen’s guinea pig on her plasma blast training course.  I liked the idea of being a guinea pig.  I had even practised squeaking, and eating hay.   Turns out, I needed none of those things. I just needed to lie down, and bring my wrinkles.  I had plenty of those!

The training course was in Warrington, and I spent a happy morning pootling around a shopping mall, drinking coffee and people watching – there are a lot of very orange people in Warrington…

At lunchtime, I returned to the college and Helen came downstairs to inspect my wrinkles.  I had deep sleep scars on my forehead, ex-smoker’s lines around my mouth, a whole flock of crow’s feet and a significantly hooded right eyelid.  Helen thought she might have time to have a go at most of them, and so she smothered me in anaesthetic cream, and I was on my own for 45 minutes, while my face (metaphorically) froze.

Upstairs, face frozen, I was laid on a bed – Helen even provided a pillow, and a very attractive white disposable mop cap to keep my unruly hair out of the way.  The experience couldn’t have been more relaxing!  I was, I’ll admit, a little nervous – Helen is always very steady handed, and I’ve had a number of procedures done by her – including tattooed eyeliner, which really does require a high level of trust and confidence!  But even still, we were working in some sensitive areas.  Helen started with my upper lip, as that’s the most sensitive area of the face.  The work was quick and interesting – I felt nothing more than a little ‘ping’ of sensation with each application of the pen (which never really touches your skin).  On a pain scale of 1-10, I’d say it was no more than a 4 at the very most.  There is an very distinct smell of burning – I guess the singeing hair – but otherwise, nothing very remarkable.  Helen worked on 4 deep creases on my upper lip, and then moved to my crow’s feet.

The crow’s feet were also very comfortable; very quick and not at all painful.  Next, she worked on my eyelid.  This was a little more sensitive, although I think a lot of my sensitivity was psychological – the thought of a burny thing working on my eyelid was very weird.  Helen worked on quite a wide area of my eyelid, and then moved on to the sleep scars on my forehead.

When she had finished, the areas Helen had worked on were covered in tiny little pale brown dots.  But apart from that, there was really nothing remarkable.  What was immediately obvious was that my eyelid had lifted.  Even with the mild swelling following the procedure, the eyelid was much less droopy than it had been.

Helen ran through the after-care – keep it dry, don’t pick, use aloe vera, basically – and off we went.

The healing process was interesting.  It was, in all, about 8 days before the scabs finally fell off.  I am an inveterate picker, but I was super disciplined about not picking these scabs – nobody wants scars on their face, right?  It was hard to keep the eyelid dry; the scabs were right in the crease, and it was the height of the hottest summer in 20 years.  The eyelid was just moist at the end of every day – but it dried out afresh each night.  Having a dry, stiff scab on your eyelid is an interesting sensation.

The scabs on my lip were the first to fall off, and the results were incredibly impressive.  I’ve gone from having a top lip that Hilda Ogden would have been proud of, to a smooth, flat upper lip.  If you’re considering lip treatment, I’d say go for it!! It works a treat.  The only real learning I’d pass on to you is: wax your lip before you go for treatment.  The combination of scabbing and a moustache is not an attractive one – even if you are the only one who notices it!

Next to go were the crow’s feet scabs.  These areas are perhaps the most impressive of all.  My partner has only just stopped marvelling at the smoothness of my under eye area – the plasma pen result has been almost miraculous! The scabs left no redness – not picking really is the key, here, and I genuinely have lost at least 30 years from my upper cheekbone.

The eyelid healed next, and then the forehead.  The eyelid is significantly better than it was – for the first time in my life, both sides of my face are the same!  It’s a remarkable change.  The forehead has also healed well, although the sleep scars aren’t completely eradicated – they were by far the deepest marks on my face, and I do still sleep with my face pressed into a pillow.  They’re radically improved, but not quite gone.

The most significant lesson I would pass on to you would be this: the healing is only about 8 days long, but it’s significant.  On days 2 and 3 (and possibly even 4) the swelling will be significant, and the scabs are very obvious.  If you can, take time off work and take the opportunity to hole up somewhere.  I was surprised how much it got to me, having people stare and ask what had happened.  If you can’t take time off work, big shades are your friend!  I lived in huge sunglasses and made full use of my full fringe!

Was it worth it?  Yes, it absolutely was!  Would I do it again?  Yup.  No hesitation.  It’s a seriously impressive procedure.

Would I recommend you contact Helen and ask her to do it for you?  I honestly can’t think of anybody I would rather trust with my face than Helen.  She knows what she’s doing; she takes the time to understand you, and what’s important to you; she is kind, gentle and careful.  You couldn’t be in better hands.

Chemical Peels

Forget everything you think you know about chemical peels

Forget everything you think you know about chemical peels 1200 1807 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

The new generation of chemical peels are all about skin remodelling, and can be used to treat everything from dark spots and wrinkles to acne and rosacea

Chemical peels pretty much do what they say on the tin. Apply acid solution, lift away dead skin cells. Job done.

Except, if you’re going to the right salon (pssst, like mine!), then you’ll be pleasantly surprised. At Helen Taylor Aesthetics, we’re all about smart peels, rather than harsh ones. Skin remodelling is the hot new buzz term in beauty, and here’s why.

In the past, skin peels simply attacked the top layers of the face to reveal younger skin beneath. Now, thanks to new more sophisticated formulations, the emphasis is on treating the skin from the inside out, with acids that work deep within the dermis, rather than irritating the surface of the skin. Bear with me – here comes the science…

Enerpeels use a unique patented carrier technology that means the peeling agents (acids to you and I) aren’t activated until they’ve penetrated the dermal layer. Not only does this mean the results are more controlled (less reddening and swelling, for starters), it also means we can introduce other helpful ingredients into the formulations to treat your specific needs.

I see a lot of clients for acne, which responds well to peels. The benefit of Enerpeels is that we can use a mixture of different acids to exfoliate the skin on a deep level, and reduce scarring – but also add anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agents into the formulation to treat the acne itself. If wrinkles are an issue, then nourishing anti-ageing ingredients can also be given alongside your peel. For rosacea – another condition that responds well to peels – anti-reddening agents can be used to calm the complexion and tackle the root cause of the issue. In other words, a bespoke treatment that’s perfectly tailored to your skin. Now that’s my kind of cocktail!

Stay skin smart!

Affordable Year Round Treatments

Affordable Year Round Treatments 2000 1334 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

I’m offering gifts to all current and potential customers in the form of a range of exciting payment plans, available for use with all of my permanent cosmetics and aesthetic treatments.

Affordable Year Round Treatments

These plans are flexible and tailor-made, making it possible for everyone to take advantage of my highly effective, long-lasting beauty therapies.

Using custom-made financial plans, you can combine a number of treatments, such as wrinkle fillers, brows and facials, into one lovely little package that will keep you going all the way through to next year!

With the cold weather kicking in, I’m sure you’ll be struggling to maintain your regular beauty routine whilst dealing with all the havoc that winter plays with our hair and skin.

Invest In Yourself

There’s never been a better time to invest in treatments that will make you feel fabulous every day and make sure that any worries about your appearance or feeling confident will be a thing of the past come 2017.

Getting started

So here’s how it works. I’ll be offering 0% APR over six, 10 or 12 months when you borrow £350 upwards.

This is a clean, easy form of lending that means you can organise and plan ahead for your beauty treatments, avoiding any financial shocks or surprises.

Thanks to the generous eligibility criteria, this is an offer that many of my customers will be able to take advantage of.

The step-by-step initial process has been designed to be totally smooth and hassle-free. The credit application can be done online or in the salon. If you choose to apply online, I’ll send you a patch test kit to ensure you don’t have any adverse reactions to the pigment in my products.

The initial process also includes a standard credit check to ensure you have a healthy financial history, as well as a brief checklist that you need to fill out to work out whether you are eligible for the finance.

The checklist asks just a few standard questions, such as confirming that you have lived in the UK for more than three years and that your annual salary is more than £10k. Don’t despair if you earn less than this, as a joint applicant can be added to any application in this case, as long as both applicants are living at the same address.

You’ll also need to have a bank account that accepts direct debits and apply with a valid form of ID either online or in person. This would mean a credit or debit card registered to your current address, a UK driving licence or a UK passport. Applicants also need to be over 18 and under 80 – so that’s most of us, then! I’ll also ask for your full name, date of birth and an email address so that we can stay in contact over the course of treatments.

Whatever you want, whenever you want

The great thing about this offer is how flexible it can be to your budget and timeframe.

Just simply decide the total price you’re happy to invest in beauty treatments, and divide this figure by the number of months you would like to pay across. Then you can just book yourself in and pay monthly!

Your borrowed amount can be used for any combination of treatments.

For example, if you’d like to have your eyebrows done at a price of £395 over 12 months, this will cost a bearly-noticeable £33 a month.

If you’d like cosmetic treatments to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, you can get treatments on three areas for £275. This would mean a cost of £1100 for quarterly treatments, and a monthly price of just £92.

Permanent makeup is a really worthwhile investment as it is totally tailor-made and an extremely effective way to boost your appearance and your confidence!

This is the ideal way to feel better about yourself with some high-quality treatments from a trusted therapist.

I use only the highest quality products and processes, and come highly recommended, please check out my testimonials or ask me for photos of recent work.

Wrinkle relaxers (“Botox”) versus dermal fillers: which one is right for you?

Wrinkle relaxers (“Botox”) versus dermal fillers: which one is right for you? 679 960 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

With Christmas fast approaching, my email inbox has been bursting at the seams. It seems that everyone wants to look fantastic in time for the festive season!

It’s lovely to see how many people are starting to recognise the long-term value of aesthetic beauty treatments and how much they can boost both appearance and confidence.

Among my most popular requests from both men and women is the desire to reduce wrinkles and smooth out fine lines.

I offer two services in this aspect and recommend treatment tailored to each individual situation. You can book a free consultation to discuss this further. In the mean time, I’ve used this post to give you some insight into these highly-sought-after treatments!

So what’s the difference between Wrinkle Relaxers (Botox) and Dermal Fillers?

wrinkle and line relaxersWrinkle Relaxers are the most popular non-surgical aesthetic procedure in the UK. This treatment works on the upper part of the face to relax the muscles and smooth out the skin. As a treatment designed for long-term use, it works by re-educating the skin into a new, fresh cycle and encouraging regeneration. Wrinkle Relaxers work to reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles, in particular frown lines, forehead lines, crows feet, bunny lines and top lip lines. I use narrow needles to inject purified protein into the key, pre-defined target areas without any need for anaesthetic. It will be over before you know it!

Dermal Fillers are different as they act superficially to fill out hollows and wrinkles without treating the muscle underneath. I use Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers to replace lost collagen for improved skin elasticity and a more youthful appearance. Again, there is no anaesthetic required but I will apply a numbing cream for your comfort before injecting fillers into the target areas using a slimline needle. It’s tiny. Fillers are typically used for brow shaping and lifting, as well as to enhance sunken cheeks, thin lips and a droopy chin. They are also used in non-surgical facelift or nose reshaping treatments and work well to disguise eye bags.

The key difference is that fillers work to replace lost volume and plump up the skin whereas wrinkle relaxers work on specific areas and target all the way down to the core of the muscle for long-term effects and regeneration.

When should I get treatment?

dermal fillersBoth Wrinkle Relaxers and Dermal Fillers are ideal for those who would like fresh, rejuvenated skin and to reduce the appearance of fine or deep lines and wrinkles. The natural ageing process, stress, smoking and sun exposure can all take their toll on our skin and I see both men and women from their 20s to their 80s who wish to have treatment.

How long does each treatment last?

Wrinkle Relaxers are designed for use in the long-term to give your skin the chance to re-educate itself. Treatment plans are different for everyone but I usually recommend waiting between four and six months for your second treatment. I then recommend follow-up treatments every three or four months after this. Once your skin adjusts and the impact of the treatment really starts to take effect, I may ask you to return just once or twice a year. It’s all down to the individual and your aesthetic ambitions!

With dermal fillers, results can last anything from 4-24 months. This is because there are many different types of fillers available to suit all clients. I will advise on the best choice depending on the level of skin damage and your own preference.

Do they hurt?

In a word, no! You may experience mild swelling, bruising and redness in the area for around 24 hours afterwards. This is due to the injection and is nothing to be concerned about. It can be covered with makeup or you can simply leave it to naturally fade away.

What areas do they treat?

Both treatments are traditionally used for the face, particularly around the eyes, forehead and around the mouth. Dermal fillers can also be used to boost lips for a thicker, fuller pout. In this case, effects last for around six months.

If this sounds like the ideal Christmas present from yourself to yourself, do get in touch!

I’ll invite you for a FREE one-on-one initial consultation to have a chat about your options and work out the best treatment for you.

Don’t forget that I now offer finance plans so you can spread the cost into affordable monthly payments. Terms and conditions apply, so ask me for more information.

Four beauty secrets the experts won’t share with you…

Four beauty secrets the experts won’t share with you… 960 960 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

Victoria Beckham recently said that there are two types of women. There are those who share their beauty secrets, and there are those who keep their knowledge all to themselves.

I fall directly into the first category, as I’m a firm believer in making sure everyone I know looks and feels their very best.

On that note, here’s my rundown of the very best aesthetic treatments that you can take advantage of right now – whether you want to hide blemishes, conceal scars, combat signs of ageing or simply enhance your natural beauty in all its glory.

1) Cryo Facial: the 4-Minute Miracle

cyro facial The Cryo Facial is my secret anti-ageing weapon. Using a special tool called a CryoWand, I spray an ice-cold high-pressure jet flow of carbon dioxide onto your skin. The series of concentrated active ingredients work to blast away visible signs of ageing for a bright and youthful glow.

Wrinkles and fine lines will be less visible and the cold impact will encourage the flow of collagen and stimulate the skin to lift, rejuvenate and firm things up. The wand is specially designed to precisely target areas such as the forehead, brows and neck where many of my clients usually first see the signs of ageing.

The entire procedure is totally painless and it takes under five minutes with no downtime or side effects! You’ll see results immediately and effects last for four months or more. Many of my clients comment how the procedure is totally relaxing and akin to a revitalising facial massage! It’s a bit of a well-kept secret at the moment.

2) Mesotherapy: your Skin’s New Best Friend

mesotherapyForgive me if I sound a little science-y for a minute but it’s well worth it. Mesotherapy is a revolutionary vitamin-based skin treatment that involves injecting Hyaluronic Acid into the skin to promote skin health, encourage repair and slow down the signs of ageing.

Hyaluronic Acid is renowned for its anti-ageing properties but its molecules are too large to be absorbed in cream form. That’s what makes mesotherapy and this direct injection route so effective. My clients love how this treatment gives a youthful glow and improved skin colour and texture as mesotherapy improves blood microcirculation. Vitamins are so important to keep our bodies healthy, and vitamins for the skin are just as important. You’ll look fresher and your friends and family just won’t be able to put their finger on why!

3) Permanent Cosmetic Eyeliner: Eye Eye Captain!

permanent eyelinerEyes are one of our most defining features but the process of applying makeup every morning and finding the perfect products to enhance your features can prove taxing – and time-consuming.

Permanent Cosmetic Eyeliner genuinely changed my life! This treatment adds depth and definition to the eye area, and there are options available to suit all tastes. Perhaps you prefer a natural look and a soft, subtle line? Or maybe you like to make a statement with a bold, dramatic style. Either way, permanent cosmetic eyeliner will enhance either the upper or lower eyeline, or both.

This treatment is especially popular with clients whose eyes water in the cold winter weather or bright summer light. It’s also ideal for those with allergies to over-the-counter makeup who need an effective, permanent solution. And fitness fans who swim or go to the gym a lot. My treatments ensure smudge-proof, professional-look makeup that will enhance the colour of your eyes and dramatically improve definition. You’ll wish you’d had it done earlier. And the best thing is, no one knows until you tell them what you’ve had done.

4) Microblading: The Ultimate in Brow Beauty

eyebrows before and afterThe UK eyebrow industry is worth millions and the average woman spends hundreds of pounds every year in the quest to achieve the perfect brow. Microblading is an extremely straightforward, popular eyebrow resurrection treatment with outstanding results. Also known as eyebrow embroidery for its fine, intricate results, I use a very fine blade to deposit pigments into the skin to enhance the appearance of your eyebrows. Pigments are matched to your exact eyebrow colour, making this ideal for those with sparse brows who wish for a fuller appearance that still looks entirely natural and works with your facial features. Again, my work is subtle and all it means is you’ll never have to fill in your brows in the morning. You’ll look instantly more preened and ‘together’ without anyone knowing what’s changed.

So that’s my rundown of some of the very best beauty secrets in my Little Black Beauty Book.

If you’d like a FREE initial consultation to discuss any concerns and answer any questions, I would love to set up a time. Just give me a call or drop me an email. I can’t wait to hear from you.

Don’t forget: I have plenty more secrets in my clinic too. Just book a FREE consultation and have a chat about how I can help you look and feel your very best.

What Is Skin Pigmentation? Your Questions, Answered

What Is Skin Pigmentation? Your Questions, Answered 537 360 Helen Taylor Aesthetics

When we’re confident in our appearance, it has a huge effect on our overall happiness. Anything from a bad hair day to misshapen eyebrows can seriously impact on how we look and feel.

One of the most common issues that affects my clients’ confidence is pigmentation. This aesthetic issue is less talked about than many others, and I thought it was time to break down the stigma of this issue, which is also referred to as dark spots, age spots or sun spots.

The Skin I Live In

Pigmentation takes place when the natural colour of the skin becomes lighter or darker in uneven patches on the face, neck, hands, shoulders, lips or décolletage. Trauma or hereditary diseases such as vitiligo (the loss of skin colour) are common causes.

Melasma is a common form of pigmentation. You may be suffering from melasma if you have brown patches on your face that are more apparent in the summer months.

Hormone fluctuations during pregnancy, the contraceptive pill and prolonged exposure to sunlight have also been listed as possible causes.

hyper pigmentation

Here Comes The Sun

You might be wondering whether ageing is also a factor. The answer is yes. Age spots – also known as lentigo or liver spots – are another common complaint regarding those concerned about pigmentation.

When patients have had their skin exposed to the sun over many years, they may also struggle with sunspots and sunburn freckles. Overexposure to the sun can also cause premature ageing and bring with it the range of skin problems.

The most common pigmentation issues typically fall into two categories.

Hyper-Pigmentation is usually a result of trauma when patients will see their skin become darker. This condition occurs due to an over-production of melanin from cells that have been damaged.

In contrast, Hypo-Pigmentation occurs when skin becomes lighter with white patches.

A Combination of Treatments

I use a combination of advanced aesthetic options to treat pigmentation. My laser and mesotherapy techniques work together to encourage production of the skin’s natural pigmentation in the affected areas.

Therapies also work to reduce the appearance of scars and blemishes whilst encouraging skin cell renewal.

While Hypo-Pigmentation is typically more difficult to deal with, when treatment is successful my clients enjoy smooth, radiant and rejuvenated skin with an even, flawless tone.

The laser treatment stimulates production of collagen and healthy circulation. It also promotes a healthy healing and metabolic process, helping to hydrate the skin from within.

A Safe Place To Talk

My advanced aesthetics can also be used for patients with birthmarks. The effectiveness of the treatment depends on the location, size and texture of the individual scar. I offer free initial consultations to every client where you can discuss exactly what you wish to gain from your treatment.

This gives you a friendly, safe environment in which to ask any questions and address any concerns about your health and your potential treatment.

I will detail the best course of treatment for you and explain what will be involved. All of my appointments and advanced aesthetic courses take place in a modern facility. I using leading industry techniques for your comfort and peace of mind.

Treatment is minimally invasive and you can expect just a mild discomfort. Skin may appear red and inflamed immediately after treatment, but this will fade within a few days.

Smooth Operator

Most of my clients will require a course of treatment with a number of appointments over a few weeks. However, this entirely depends on the individual situation and many see visible results after just one or two appointments.

If you’d like a more even skin tone and healthier looking skin, give me a call today. I’d love to meet you and talk more about how I can help boost your appearance for a happier, healthier you.
