The Truth About Chemical Peels (and why you should get one)

Hello everyone, it’s Helen, and as I write this, it’s the Easter weekend and I am relaxing on holiday. I hope that you all had a great Easter,  whatever you got up to?  Today, I wanted to talk to you about a treatment that I have been asked about a lot recently, and that is chemical peels.

Chemical peels are a great way to refresh your appearance, and kick start any other treatment plan that you may be considering embarking upon.

Chemical Peels remove the top layer of skin, giving way to a fresher, brighter and more luminous appearance, and can work wonders on skin issues including pigmentation, scarring and ageing.

Let’s look in a little more depth now, about the wonder of the chemical peel and why YOU should consider getting one!

Modern day chemical peels are gentle

Let’s talk firstly about the fear factor when it comes to chemical peels. Not one to shy away from the truth, I LOVE to address the REAL LIFE CONCERNS that my clients may be having.

‘Is it going to hurt?’ ‘‘Will it leave me looking like Samantha Jones from Sex + the City’? (did you ever see that episode?)

These are just some of the questions that clients ask me when they consider coming in for a chemical peel. And I am always on hand to answer them:

Is it going to hurt? No. You may experience some mild warming of the skin once the peel starts to take effect. But I would describe this as tingling and it should not hurt. Modern day peels, called EnerPeels, remain inert until they have penetrated deep into the skin, which means irritation of the top layer is minimised.

What will I look like after the peel? You will experience peeling during the treatment and the positive effects of this may be seen immediately. Of course, it’s good to schedule a peel when you have a free diary as there may be some shedding of skin for a few days after the treatment.

Chemical peels produce outstanding results

Brighter and fresher looking skin, reduction in pigmentation and scarring, clearer looking skin (acne), and a reduction in the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles. A peel is a great treatment to have at any time but is especially wonderful before a special occasion such as a party or a wedding.

You can expect your results to last for several months, and longer term, the peel also stimulates the production of collagen, so you can expect to see results that appear months after the treatment.

Skin peels work well with other treatments

I often recommend a peel before embarking upon a course of other treatments, such as fillers, profhilo, biofil or even the introduction of a new skincare routine. Why? Well, a peel gives a fresher ‘new’ foundation to your skin, and this means that anything else that you have done just looks that much better. Think of it a little like cleaning, you wouldn’t paint a wall for example without removing the dust and debris first.

A chemical peel can really boost your confidence.

Because a peel gives results quickly and that are visible, it can really boost your confidence as it is one of those treatments that people cannot help themselves from telling you that you look ‘younger’, ‘fresher’ or like you have been on holiday.

You will also notice that your makeup goes on much more smoothly, and you need to wear less of it. Skincare products will be able to penetrate your skin much faster and will have much more of a dramatic impact, so this is a treatment where the gift just keeps on giving.

So, if you would like to treat yourself to a chemical peel, why not start by reading more about the peels that we offer here. Then, book yourself in for a free consultation and let’s discuss which kind of peel would work best for YOU.

I hope that you had a wonderful Easter, and until the next time, as always, if you have any questions then myself, and Chloe and Katherine are here for you.

Take Care,

Helen Signature
